New Song---Check it out

I did not write the song---I sang this with my choir in high school when we sang in Carnegie Hall. The words to the "chorus" kept ringing through my mind when my band and I were getting ready for the Rwanda benefit concert. Obviously there is a lot of hurt and weariness there from the genocide, and so we put the song in front of "Bad" (a perfect U2 song that I love to sing) and kept going. You may hear the beginning of "Bad" at the end. You will hear dead silence for a bit in the beginning. You will probably hear a shattering glass in the middle. It's live.

Ain't loading for me. All the others work.

I can't get it to play either.

I can't either! I will have to get Dear Sir to work on it. Don't know what he did wrong there. Sorry.

Try it now -- should work.

Yes it does. Thanks.

Very nice.

Rachel, do you have anything recorded that is on the "lighter" end of the scale? Something more pop even? (You've mentioned that you do other sorts of things in your live performances, for ex.) I'd love to hear your voice doing different styles of music. Don't get me wrong, I like what you've got posted here, but I am interested in what else you can do with that fabulous instrument of yours! :-)

Emily---

I hate pop.

With my band I have done blues, some country, and rock. I can see if any is worthy enough of a recording to put up. I am for the most part not impressed with the mix of intruments (the vocals are too heavy and so is the violin, which should have gone way down).

I realize that my songs are for the most part melancholy. Maybe that is why I don't have a contract (among other reasons of course)!

Emily, all I do is pretty much sing. I am not a singer that goes all over the scales and shows off. I really don't have much capability for that. But I can see what I can dig up. I have lots of songs that I need to record sometime but alas, they are all somewhat melancholy (with the exception of a few).

I guess my comment is that you have a fantastic voice and I just bet you could sing almost anything you wanted to! I just want to hear you do different styles/genre. I'll certainly watch the site for more!

Or I could come to your next gig. :-)

Yes, you need to come to my next gig. I think you would like it. You are only one state down from me anyway. You would definitely hear different styles/genre if you did that.

You are too nice about my vocals. Coming from you (who has a powerful voice herself), and you coming from your family of musical wizards, I take that as a high compliment.

If you like pop, you should hear her cover Martina McBride

Oh man. Yes, I can cover a song by Martina and I prefer to sing it extra fast.
